INVITATION PROCESS (Best 45 girls and 45 boys per state)

Battle of the Potomac XC staff will hand out invitations at regional meets, private schools' championship meets, and public state championship meets. Staff will be present at:
   -Northern Region Meet @Burke Lake Park ------- Virginia
   -Northwest 3A and 4A Regionals @ -------- Maryland
   -VHSL State Meet @ Great Meadows, The Plains ----- Virginia
   -Maryland State Meet @Hereford HS ----- Maryland

CONFIRMATIONS: TEAM MD OR TEAM VA

If you receive an invitation in person, see your name on the website, or receive an email, contact the Battle of the Potomac XC staff:

You may fill out and turn in the invitation to Battle XC staff at onsite meets.



TEAM VA or TEAM MD INVITATIONAL TIMES*

Maryland Runners Criteria:

Regional or private schools' Championship 5K times
Boys: 17:45
Girls: 21:00

State Championship (Hereford):
Boys: 17:50
Girls: 21:15
or... Top 60 combined 1A, 2A, 3Aand 4A finishers, whichever is less

Virginia Runners' Criteria:

Regional or private school championship 5K times (faster than)
Boys: 16:50
Girls: 19:30

Northern Regional Championship (Burke Lake)
Boys: 16:05
Girls: 18:59

State Championship (Great Meadow)
Boys: 17:01
Girls: 20:00
or... Top 60 combined A, AA, and AAA finishers, whichever is less

Invitational Selection Goal

FIRST 45 committed boys or girls (RSVP received) will be in the invitational races. Each race will have 45 runners on each state team (90 in each of two invitational races. Total runners selected (goal): 180

Team Assignment (if your school is in D.C.)

Boys and girls who attend Washington, DC schools are considered; residents of DC will be on Team MD; other runners' home residence will determine if they run on Team VA or MD.
